Todorov's Narrative Theory
- There are 5 stages that a narrative can progress through
- A state of equilibrium where all is as it should be - everything in the town is as it should be, in a state of normality and peace
- A disruption of the order - the man in the black suit visits
- A recognition that the disorder has occurred - while giving the man a tour the other man that runs the town notices him writing things on his clipboard
- An attempt to repair the damage of the disruption - they sacrifice the man in the black suit by burning him alive in a wooden man
- A return or restoration of a new equilibrium - repetition of the bird tweeting in the tree that was shown at the beginning of the music video
Stop Where You Are - Corrine Bailey Rae
Theories of Identity - Gauntlett
- Argues that the media have an important role but complex relationships with identities
- In a modern world, it is now an expectation that individuals make choices about their identities and lifestyles
- In this music video, a variety of people from all backgrounds and lifestyles are shown living their lives. This encourages others to express themselves how they want, without fear of being judged.
